How did you and your husband meet?
We came into BYU as freshman together. We never talked but had some of the same friends. He was actually my freshman year crush and I'd check him out in the cannon center all the time when I was with my swim friends and he was with his football friends. All of my swim friends had a crush and nicknames for that crush. I called him "pretty eyes"...I didnt know his real name. After freshman year I didn't see him again until a few years later (mission) I saw him in the RB parking lot and was trying to make eye contact with him but he kept looking down!! Mike Alisa and I were friends and he kept trying to set me up with his friends but I was anti relationship. One day mike was finally like "when are you going to let me set you up!? I have the perfect guy for you!!" I agreed and asked who it was. He said Kaneakua Friel do you know him? I didn't so I said no. He described him to me and I realized it was my freshman year crush!! I told all my swim friends and they knew the guy I was talking about because of a few years back when I was crushing on him. We went on a group date with a bunch of football guys and dated ever since!
What position does your husband play?
Tight End
Do you love football? Did that love come before or after you met your husband?
Coming from a family of all girls we were always annoyed when my dad put on the football game when we wanted to watch other things. Coming to college and going to games made me enjoy it, I liked the atmosphere but Id never watch one on TV. When we started dating I thought I knew a lot about football but realized I didn't know anything! I had to have someone explain to me what a first down was. I'm still don't fully understand some things but I love football now and cheering on BYU and my husband.
Thanks Rachel! We are so excited to get to know a little better this season!
